We're at 1491.1 Pounds!
Wow, we had a really big snow storm this weekend. Top five on recorded history! Getting almost two feet in Saint Paul really has slowed life down a little. That gave us a nice opportunity between all the shoveling to do some cooking and enjoy more of the summer bounty we put up this year.
Our chickens have fallen into their winter laying routine now, and with the three younger chickens producing, we have been averaging five eggs a day. In total we had 35 eggs this week weighing in at 4.5 lbs. We also started enjoying some ripe citrus from our lime, lemon, and limequat plants that are overwintering in our south facing windows. With the 1.1 lbs of citrus we came in at 5.6 lbs this week!

Wow, what is a limequat?
A limequat is a cross between a kumquat and a lime. It's a really great fruit! With limes one usually only eats the flesh. With kumquats, the rind. The limequat has properties of both with a tasty flesh and rind. They are about the size of a really really big grape. We made limequat cranberry sauce at thanksgiving that was truly marvelous!
